Vancouver area immigrants make the RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards

The 7th annual RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards were announced today. The awards honour outstanding contributions from immigrants in the culinary, medical, educational and entrepreneurial fields.

The Vancouver area winners for this year are:

  • Soheila Ansari (Coquitlam/Iran) –  settlement worker and a regular on Aria TV’s Whiteboard.
  • Amrik Singh Aulakh (Surrey/India) – community volunteer and Surrey RCMP Auxiliary Constable.
  • John Chang (Richmond/Taiwan) – biggest Canadian exporter of ice wine to Asia
  • Alice Chung (Vancouver/Malaysia) – philanthropist and president of Alive Health Centre.
  • Maria Nieves Santos-Greaves (Surrey/Philippines) – owner of Surrey Hearing Care, offers free hearing testing via its mobile hearing clinic van.
  • Vikram Vij (Vancouver/India) – restauranter, owns line of take-home Indian food
  • Ana Maria Zúniga (North Vancouver/Chile) – president of AZ World Translation and Interpretation Inc.
