Program prepares skilled immigrants for work in BC

June 17, 2017 by Didi Korcheva, a program of the Immigrant Employment Council of British Columbia (IEC-BC), and in partnership with BCIT, provides a range of services and resources for internationally trained workers in 35 skilled trades, 16 occupations in biotechnology and life sciences and 17 occupations in information technology (IT) and data services.

This free online program is available to skilled immigrants before actually moving to Canada. It allows them to get a comprehensive assessment of their competencies and recommendations if they need improvement in specific areas or  insight into alternative careers in areas where their skills are in demand. The program also helps newcomers to BC understand Canadian workplace culture and connect with Canadian employers.

To qualify, you must be approved for immigration to Canada and have two to five years of work experience in skilled trades, biotechnology or IT.
