HUB Cycling, a non-profit organization that promotes cycling in Vancouver, in partnership with Immigrant Services Society of BC (ISSofBC) has a new initiative that matches local cycling volunteers with new immigrants to Vancouver.
Participants in this program come from different parts of the world and learn about safety, cycling culture and routes around Vancouver. This also gives them the opportunity to make friends and improve their English language skills.
“We wanted to provide settlement staff with the first-hand skills and knowledge needed to feel confident promoting cycling as an attractive option to their clients”, says Alyshia Burak, HUB Cycling’s Bike Education Program Manager.
